Alex is one of our Investment Managers and joined Dowgate Wealth in October 2022. On leaving Durham University with an upper second-class degree in History and Politics, Alex joined Gartmore Group on the global dealing desk in 1997 and then moved to Williams de Broe in 1998 as a Private Client Investment Manager specialising in the commodities sector. In 2011 Alex joined Cheviot Asset Management as a partner, continuing to manage private client portfolios. In 2016 Alex joined Rowan Dartington to manage his client base, returning industry benchmark beating returns. This role was combined with a responsibility to develop the discretionary offering to the advisers of the parent company, St James’s Place. On account of this length of tenure Alex has become a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments.
Alex enjoys managing portfolios on a bespoke discretionary and advisory basis for all client types and enjoys working closely with financial advisers to achieve the optimum outcome for their clients.
